Call 07 3667 8280Looking for an ISO 9001 consultant, or help across the wider ISO family, in Australia? Streamline ISO Consultants builds certification-ready management systems for ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, without the jargon, padding or templated binders that never get used. You work directly with an experienced ISO Lead Auditor throughout, and we work with businesses Australia-wide, on-site and remotely, from your first gap analysis through to a system that passes audit and actually runs your business day to day.
What does an ISO consultant do?
A good ISO consultant does far more than hand you a folder of policies. We work out what a given standard actually requires for your business, design a management system that fits how you already operate, get your team using it, and prepare you for the certification audit. Having sat on the auditor’s side of the table for years, I can tell you the difference is obvious at Stage 2: the systems that were bought as a document set fall apart the moment an auditor asks a shop-floor question, while the ones built around how the business really works answer for themselves. The goal is a lean system that earns its keep, not a shelf full of documents that only appear at audit time.
Do you need an ISO 9001 consultant?
ISO 9001 is the standard most Australian businesses are asked for first, usually to get onto a tender list or keep a key customer. As your ISO 9001 consultant, we design a quality management system around how you already work, get your team using it, and prepare you to pass the certification audit the first time. It is the same practical approach we take to every standard, applied to quality: no templated binder, a lean system that earns its keep, and an experienced Lead Auditor on your side of the table. See our ISO 9001 quality management service, or our ISO 9001 certification cost guide, for the detail.
The standards we consult on
We lead with information security and AI, and we cover the established quality, environmental and safety standards as an integrated system where it makes sense:
- ISO 27001: Information Security: the global standard for an information security management system (ISMS).
- ISO 42001: AI Management: the new standard for governing artificial intelligence responsibly.
- ISO 9001: Quality: the foundation standard most Australian tenders still ask for.
- ISO 45001: Work Health & Safety: the occupational health and safety standard, and the backbone of an officer’s due-diligence evidence.
- ISO 14001: Environmental: environmental management, commonly integrated alongside ISO 9001 and ISO 45001.
- ISO 17025: Laboratories: testing and calibration competence for laboratories (accreditation via NATA).
- HACCP: Food Safety: sector-specific food-safety systems we support directly.
- Security frameworks: SOC 2, the Essential Eight and TISAX for organisations whose customers demand them.

How we work: design, mentor, maintain
Design and implementation
We design your management system from the ground up (scope, risk assessment, policies, processes and the evidence trail), shaped around your operations rather than a generic template. In practice that starts with us walking your actual process with the people who run it, not emailing you a questionnaire.
Mentoring (do it with us)
Prefer to build capability in-house, or already drafting your system with AI tools? Our ISO mentoring guides your team through certification step by step, so you own the system and keep costs down, with an experienced auditor reviewing your work before the certification body sees it.
Ongoing maintenance
Certification is the start, not the finish. We provide ongoing management-system maintenance: internal audits, management reviews and surveillance-audit prep, so your certification never lapses. The businesses that come unstuck are almost always the ones that got certified, then quietly stopped running the system until the surveillance audit loomed. For fully hands-off support, see our outsourced ISO manager service.
ISO consultants in every Australian capital
We’re an Australia-wide practice. Most of our work runs efficiently over video and shared workspaces, with on-site days where they add value, so you get the right consultant regardless of postcode. What changes from city to city isn’t how we work, it’s what you are being asked to prove. The questions a Perth mining contractor fields are nothing like the ones a Canberra software supplier fields, and the system has to answer the right ones.
Sydney
We support Sydney and wider NSW businesses across construction, technology, professional services and manufacturing, from first-time ISO 9001 certification to ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 for firms answering tougher security and AI questions from their customers.
Melbourne
Melbourne and Victorian clients work with us on integrated quality, safety and environmental systems, and increasingly on information security, often consolidating several standards into one efficient management system.
Brisbane
We help Brisbane and Queensland organisations achieve and keep ISO certification, with particular strength in safety-critical and field-based industries where ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 do real work.
Perth
Perth and Western Australia is mostly resources work: mining services, engineering, fabrication and the long tail of contractors who supply them. That usually means ISO 45001 safety and ISO 14001 environmental systems, and the bar is prequalification rather than a certificate for the wall. The hard part out here is rarely writing the procedure. It is evidence. When crews are fly-in fly-out or the site is six hours from anyone’s desk, records tend to get reconstructed before an audit rather than captured during the work, and an experienced auditor spots the difference immediately. We build systems where the evidence comes off the job itself.
Adelaide
Adelaide and South Australia splits neatly in two. There is the defence supply chain, where ISO 27001 arrives as a security questionnaire long before it arrives as a contract, and where what you can prove about handling controlled information decides whether you stay on the list. Then there is food and wine, where it is HACCP and food safety and whichever retailer or export scheme sits behind it. Different standards, same underlying question from the customer: can you show it actually works?
Canberra
Canberra is almost entirely about selling to government, and that shapes which standard you need first. ISO 27001 usually leads, because the security questionnaire turns up early in procurement and a vague answer ends the conversation there. What has changed recently is ISO 42001: agencies have started asking suppliers how they govern AI, and those questions have moved from optional extras to standard items in a tender. If you are a software or services business bidding federally, plan to answer both.
Darwin
Darwin and the Northern Territory bring defence, construction and marine work, usually with remote sites and a workforce that shifts with the season. Systems that quietly assume everyone is in one office in the same week do not survive here. We build safety and quality systems that still function when the person doing the recording is several hundred kilometres from anyone who could help them.
Hobart and Tasmania
Tasmania is a smaller market and we support it remotely. Most of the work is manufacturers, food producers and contractors who need ISO 9001 to stay on a tender list, often with food safety or environmental requirements alongside it. Small market, same standards, and no reason to pay for mainland travel to meet them.
Independent of certification bodies
We’re consultants, not a certification body, and that independence matters. We don’t audit and certify our own work (that’s a conflict of interest), so our only job is to get you ready. When it’s time to certify, we’ll help you choose the right accredited certification body for your industry and budget. Start with our guide to ISO certification bodies in Australia, and a certification readiness review confirms you will pass before you book.
What does ISO certification cost?
Cost depends on the standard, your size and how much you do yourself. We keep it transparent: see our Australian cost guides for ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and ISO 42001.
Frequently asked questions
How much does an ISO consultant cost in Australia?
It varies with the standard and how much you want to do in-house. Mentoring-led engagements cost less than full consultancy because your team does more of the work. Our cost guides above give realistic Australian ranges for each standard.
How long does ISO certification take?
For most small to medium businesses, three to six months from kick-off to certification audit is realistic, depending on the standard and how ready you already are.
Do you work outside the capital cities?
Yes. We work with clients across regional and remote Australia. Most of the engagement runs remotely, so location is rarely a barrier.
Can you help with several standards at once?
Absolutely, and it’s usually cheaper and simpler. We build integrated systems that satisfy multiple standards (for example ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, or ISO 27001 with SOC 2) from one shared core.
Do you provide the certification audit too?
No, and deliberately so. The certification audit must be done by an independent accredited body. We prepare you for it and help you select the right one.
