This article takes a deep dive into Certification Bodies in Australia and reviews the pitfalls associated with companies that issue unaccredited ISO Certificates.
Certification of your organisation’s management system should always be undertaken by a JAS-ANZ accredited Certification Body (or another IAF Accredited Body) to make sure your certificate is legitimate and the certification process has been completed to the requirements of ISO 19011 (the international standard that sets out the requirements for management system auditing) by qualified ISO Certification Auditors. Once you have achieved certification, your company should be listed on the JAS-ANZ register, which can be found on their website HERE.
WARNING – Don’t fall into the trap of choosing an unaccredited certification option! Companies offering unaccredited certificates are known as “Certificate Mills” in the industry. If you engage a Certificate Mill and receive an unaccredited certification, you will likely find your certificate rejected by your customers and you will be back to square one – having to spend more money to re-develop and certify the system to the required standard.
