A gap analysis audit tells you exactly where your management system stands against an ISO standard, before you commit to certification. Streamline gives you an independent assessment and a clear, prioritised action list, conducted by an experienced ISO auditor.

What is a gap analysis audit?
A gap analysis (or gap assessment) compares your current processes, documentation and practices against the requirements of an ISO standard, identifying exactly what is already in place and what still needs to be done. It is the smartest first step before a certification project, a re-certification, or the adoption of a new standard.
When a gap analysis makes sense
- You are considering certification and want to know the size of the job
- You have built a system yourself, with templates or AI tools, and want to know if it will pass
- A new standard or new version has been released
- You want an independent check before your Stage 1 certification audit
What you get
A detailed gap analysis report with a clear, prioritised action list: what conforms, what does not, and exactly what to do to close each gap before your certification audit. We assess against any standard, including ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
The Streamline difference
You work directly with an experienced ISO auditor who knows what certification bodies look for, so the gaps we find are the ones that actually matter at audit. We can stop at the report, help you close the gaps, or mentor your team through the work.
What a gap analysis covers
We work through every clause of your chosen standard and compare it to how your organisation actually operates. That typically means:
- Documentation review: policies, procedures and records against the standard’s requirements.
- Process walkthroughs: how work is really done, not just what’s written down.
- Risk and context: whether you’ve identified the issues, interested parties and risks the standard expects.
- A gap register: every requirement marked as conforms, partially conforms or missing.
Gap analysis vs internal audit
A gap analysis is a starting-point health check, ideal before you build a system or commit to certification. A clause 9.2 internal audit is a formal, ongoing requirement once your system is running. Many clients begin with a gap analysis to scope the work, then engage us for internal audits once certified. We’re happy to advise which you actually need.
Which standards we assess
We run gap analyses against any management system standard: ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and integrated combinations. If you’re moving into information security or AI governance for the first time, a gap analysis is the cheapest way to understand the size of the task before you spend on implementation or certification.
What you do with the results
The gap analysis report is built to be acted on. Each gap carries a clear, prioritised recommendation, so you can either close the gaps yourself with our mentoring, or have Streamline implement the system for you. Either way you start certification with a realistic plan, an accurate budget and no surprises at the stage 1 audit.
